Ocean Road Community Centre
Home of the Kapiti Senior Citizens’ Assn & Kapiti Service Clubs
Formally the Kapiti Senior Citizens Association the hall is now run by the Kapiti Community Services Trust (The Trust) and is available for hire. Built in 1984 after a building Committee was set up with representatives of all Service Clubs and Associations in the Kapiti District.
The combined efforts of the Building Committee, supported by its general members, produced a very fine building situated in Ocean Road. Othe financial assistance came from a Kiwi Lottery Grant, substantial donations from Rotary and Lions Clubs and a loan from the Parents Centre, with Senior Citizens Association providing the bulk of the funding. The Trust now is administrated by representatives of all the clubs and associations.
It is a building to be proud of in any community. Approximately 10 organisations use the building on a regular basis. Activities are still run by Senior citizens and include indoor bowls, mah jong, scrabble and cards.
The hall was completely renovated in 2014 , it is now fully arconditioned and has a capacity of 120 with chairs and tables provided. There is a small stage in the centre of the room and this is complimented by a new sound system with overhead projector and roll down screen. A fully equiped kitchen makes this an ideal location for larger functions ans parties. Perfect for a wedding reception.
